Cristián Mohaded debuts at Meritalia with Hug and Eyes collections at Salone del Mobile 2026

At Salone del Mobile.Milano 2026, Argentine designer Cristián Mohaded presented his first collection for Meritalia, the historic Italian firm now part of Italian Radical Design. The collection comprises Hug, a sofa and armchair line, and Eyes, a series of colored glass side tables. Hug is conceived as an open, dynamic architecture with a checkerboard module system and an irregular backrest that transforms into an armrest, exploring material and chromatic contrasts between textured and smooth surfaces. Eyes plays with light, shadow, and reflection through circular glass tops with radial patterns, designed in pairs at varying heights and diameters. The pieces were exhibited within Radical Home, a shared space by Meritalia, Gufram, and Memphis at Rho Fiera Milano, designed by (AB)NORMAL studio under creative direction of Greta Cevenini. The installation presented a conceptual house showcasing diverse visions of contemporary Italian radical design. Mohaded's work aligns with Meritalia's experimental ethos, emphasizing geometric precision and organic softness. His inclusion in Meritalia's catalog underscores the rising prominence of Argentine design in global furniture.
