Cristian Chironi's 'My house is a Le Corbusier' Chapter 7 in Tunis

Cristian Chironi's seventh chapter of 'My house is a Le Corbusier' lands in Tunis, confronting Villa Baizeau, Le Corbusier's only work in Tunisia. Since 2015, the project redefines boundaries between performance, architecture, and the experience market. Inaccessible within the presidential park of Carthage, the villa becomes a mental dimension rather than a physical space. Chironi resides in the Medina of Tunis, turning displacement into a perceptual lab questioning contemporary housing urgencies and property limits. The project roots in a 1960s episode: Costantino Nivola entrusted the Chironi family with a Le Corbusier house design for Orani, never built. The performance 'Carthage Drive' involved a Fiat 127 'Camaleonte' customized with Le Corbusier's chromatic keyboard, evoking the artist's uncle transporting artworks decades ago. The exhibition, produced by La Boîte – Centre d’Art & d’Architecture with the Italian Cultural Institute of Tunis, opened April 3, 2026, as part of the X Giornata del Design Italiano nel Mondo. It presents video, photography, and installations from the residency. The show runs until June 17, 2026.
