Crisalide Festival 2025 returns to Forlì with theme 'Sensibile, Dicibile'
The 32nd edition of Crisalide Festival is underway in Forlì, organized by Masque teatro under the artistic direction of Lorenzo Bazzocchi and Eleonora Sedioli. Running until November 8, the festival features over ten premieres and around twenty guest companies. The autumn program takes place at Teatro Felix Guattari in Forlì, while a summer edition will be held at Giardino di Gualdo in Meldola from August 22 to 24. The 2025 theme is 'Sensibile, Dicibile' (Sensible, Sayable), inviting attention to others and their signals. In an interview, Bazzocchi and Sedioli explain that the concept evolved into the dichotomy 'Truth and Compassion,' encapsulated in the phrase 'Sharing the destiny of otherness.' The summer events at Giardino di Gualdo, a house built on alluvial soil of the Bidente river near the Casentino forests, emerged from a desire to reconnect with nature. Artists have performed in fields, on sand dunes, and in the river, creating immersive experiences. The directors also discuss their work 'Oh, Spirito,' which continues their exploration of trance and otherness, following previous works 'KIVA' (inspired by Aby Warburg and Hopi Indians), 'VOODOO' (on Voodoo rituals from Togo and Benin to Haiti), and 'E DI TUTTI I VOLTI DIMENTICATI.' Regarding public funding, Bazzocchi and Sedioli argue that art's essence resists quantification by consensus or metrics, calling for a new community of administrator-artists to evaluate cultural initiatives.
