CREAttivo opens sensory play park in Aquileia with mosaics inspired by Roman Domus

cultural-heritage · 2026-04-26

In Aquileia, a new public park called CREAttivo has opened, featuring mosaic and wooden panels with interactive games for children. The project, curated by Sabrina Zannier and produced by Maravee Project, aims to connect cultural heritage with local manufacturing. Mosaics by Pauline Debuchy draw inspiration from the tablinum of the Domus of Tito Macro. The park is part of a broader initiative that began in 2020, involving the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli and companies Gervasoni, Snaidero, and Very Wood. Previous editions created parks in Gemona and Gorizia. In 2024, the project expands with 'Cammini,' adding panels and interactive maps covering UNESCO sites in Friuli Venezia Giulia and Slovenia. The park received the Premio all’Innovazione at the Aquileia 25 UNESCO conference. Zannier emphasized the collaboration between art, business, and education, and the role of the park in urban renewal, designed by architect Giuliano Buset.
