Courtauld to Show O'Keeffe's Ghost Ranch Works in 2027

The Courtauld Gallery in London will mount "Georgia O'Keeffe: Ghost Ranch" in October 2027, featuring 18 works never before exhibited in the UK. The exhibition explores how O'Keeffe's remote New Mexico home shaped her art and life. Ghost Ranch, a 21,000-acre property north of Santa Fe, became O'Keeffe's summer residence from 1934 until her death; her ashes were scattered there. Senior curator Dr Karen Serres noted that few in the UK understand the ranch's role in O'Keeffe's development as a modernist. The show includes works like "Mule's Skull with Pink Poinsettia" (1936) and "Red and Yellow Cliffs" (1940), alongside photographs by Tim Nighswander. O'Keeffe's UK reputation suffered after a 1993 Hayward Gallery exhibition drew harsh male critics, but a 2016 Tate show aimed to correct misconceptions. Serres said the exhibition offers a chance to deepen public understanding of an often-misunderstood artist.
