Courtauld Collection to Debut at Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris
The Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris will host "The Courtauld Collection. A Vision for Impressionism" from February 20 to June 17, 2019. The exhibition features masterpieces from the Courtauld Gallery's collection, including works by Cézanne, Manet, Seurat, and Van Gogh. Samuel Courtauld, a British industrialist of French Huguenot descent, amassed the collection in the early 20th century, driven by a passion for Impressionist and Post-Impressionist art. He founded the Courtauld Institute of Art in London, which houses the collection. The show marks a return of these works to Paris, where Courtauld's ancestors originated before fleeing religious persecution. Prior to this, the museum will present a dual exhibition of Egon Schiele and Jean-Michel Basquiat from October 2 to February 14.
