Coup de Théâtre: Ceramics as Theatre at Abby Kortrijk

Abby Kortrijk is showcasing 'Coup de Théâtre. A Play of Clay', an exhibition that delves into the artistic possibilities of ceramics. Utilizing Abby's extensive ceramic collection, one of Flanders' most significant, the display contrasts historical artifacts with modern art and design. Ceramics are portrayed as a medium for creativity and role-playing, where figures, objects, and sets perform like actors, reflecting themes of identity, power, beauty, and daily life throughout history. The exhibition unfolds in three 'acts', creating a journey that presents ceramics as a miniature representation of the world. It includes approximately ninety historical pieces alongside contemporary works by various artists, and new creations from emerging designers inspired by the region's ceramic heritage will also be featured.
