Cosimo Veneziano's Biomega Explores Biodiversity Through Art and Neuroscience
The Biomega initiative, led by artist Cosimo Veneziano (born 1983, Moncalieri, Turin) and farmer Filippo Racciatti, investigates plant biodiversity through the lenses of art, nature, anthropology, and neuroscience. This project unfolds in three stages: research, exhibition and discussion, and the creation of a web app. During the research phase, secondary school students documented non-GMO seeds in Piedmont and Liguria. Collaborating with IULM University of Milan, Veneziano focused on agro-food biotechnologies and neuromarketing. Until June 9, PAV Parco d'Arte Vivente in Turin hosts meetings featuring guests like biologist Paola Bonfante and artist Luigi Pagliarini. Veneziano's artworks will be showcased at Fondazione La Raia (July 2019), in Matera (September 2019), and at CAMERA in Turin (autumn 2019), culminating in a crowdsourced web app.
