Cosimo Filippini's 'Finestre' Turns Photographs into Windows at Artphilein Foundation

The De Pietri Artphilein Foundation in Paradiso, Switzerland, is hosting 'Finestre,' a solo exhibition by Lugano-born artist Cosimo Filippini (b. 1979). The show presents a series of photographs capturing Lake Lugano's water at different times of day and light conditions, framed to resemble windows on the loft walls. The series explores color and light through a minimalist, impressionistic approach, with water hues shifting according to time and weather. Filippini pushes photography beyond its medium toward painting, sculpture, and architectural installation, creating a site-specific project where the subject is just steps away. The installation varies window motifs: single and double lights, a group of six photos suggesting one large window, and two vertical photos under a lunette evoking an arched window. The foundation, founded by Gianfranco and Caterina De Pietri, focuses on contemporary photography and art publishing. It includes Artphilein Editions, a public library, and exhibition spaces Focus, La Piscina, and Open Lab. The Paradiso venue also houses Artphilein Bookstore, specializing in photobooks and independent publishing. Recent programming has included projects within the Swiss Photomonth calendar and international collaborations. The exhibition runs until January 31, 2026.
