Cortona On The Move 2023: More or Less Photography Festival

The 13th edition of Cortona On The Move, a photography festival in Tuscany, runs under the theme 'More or Less' curated by artistic director Paolo Woods. Over 30 artists present 26 exhibitions across the historic city center, the Fortezza Medicea del Girifalco, and Stazione C near Camucia-Cortona station. Featured photographers include Larry Fink with 'Class Issues', Chauncey Hare with 'Working Class Heroes' (never before exhibited in Italy), and winners Zed Nelson ('The Anthropocene Illusion') and Marco Zanella ('Scalandrê'). Intesa Sanpaolo sponsors two shows: Massimo Vitali's 'Standing Still' and 'Il caso "Africo"' from the Archivio Publifoto Intesa Sanpaolo, featuring Tino Petrelli's 1948 reportage on display in full for the first time. Collective exhibitions include 'Get Rich or Die Tryin' curated by Lars Lindemann and Paolo Woods on hip-hop culture, 'Focus on China' curated by Lü Peng and Paolo Woods with artists Hong Lei, Dong Wensheng, and Han Lei, and 'Ambiziosamente tua – Amore e classi sociali nel fotoromanzo' curated by Frédérique Deschamps and Paolo Woods in partnership with Fondazione Mondadori, showcasing negatives and proofs from Bolero magazine (1947–1970s). The Cortona On The Move Award 2023 received 2,000 submissions; ten finalists will be announced in June, with a €3,000 prize and exhibition opportunity. On July 14–15 at Teatro Signorelli, photographers can have their work reviewed by photo editors from major publications.
