Corto Maltese Exhibition Opens in Cagliari with 200 Works
Over 200 drawings and watercolors of Corto Maltese, the iconic comic character created by Hugo Pratt, are on display at Palazzo di Città in Cagliari until December 4, 2022. The exhibition, titled 'Corto Maltese – Verso nuove rotte,' is curated by Patrizia Zanotti, who worked closely with Pratt as his colorist and now manages his legacy. The show is organized into nine chapters exploring different aspects of the adventurer's world, including African lands, women, and the South Seas, featuring original boards, rare artworks, and multimedia installations. It includes a diving suit from the Italian Navy. The exhibition follows a previous show at Palazzo Ducale in Genoa and coincides with the upcoming release of 'Notturno Berlinese' by Rizzoli on September 27. CMS Cultura organizes the event, which will be accompanied by collateral events on comics and illustration. Zanotti describes her long collaboration with Pratt, noting his method of blending reality and fantasy, and reflects on Corto Maltese's enduring appeal as a symbol of freedom and respect for other cultures.
