Correggio's frescoes come alive through AR in Parma for 500th anniversary

For the 500th anniversary of Correggio's frescoes in the dome of the Church of San Giovanni Evangelista, Parma launches 'Correggio 500', a multimedia itinerary combining physical visits with digital experiences. The immersive installation 'Il cielo per un instante in terra', based on Lucio Rossi's photographic project, allows visitors to view the dome's details up close inside the monastery's refectory, including the section normally visible only to monks. At the Monastery of San Paolo, the augmented reality experience 'Hortus Conclusus 2.0' uses VR headsets to guide visitors through the history of the site and Correggio's frescoes. The project is a collaboration between ArcheoVea Impresa Culturale, Publics.icc, and the University of Parma via the SFERA program. The itinerary runs from September 8, 2024 to January 31, 2025, with tickets at €12. Other cultural events in Parma include a Toulouse-Lautrec exhibition opening September 7 at Palazzo della Rosa Prati and a Surrealism show at Fondazione Magnani Rocca from September 14 to December 15.
