Corot and Academic Art at Two New York Galleries
Two exhibitions in New York highlight Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot and academic painting. At Salander-O'Reilly Galleries (20 East 79th Street, May 5 to June 5, 2004), Corot is celebrated as "the father of modern landscape painting," with praise from Delacroix (1861) and Degas (20 years later).
