Cornelia Performing Arts Collective's Video Performance 'Art is Homeless'

The Cornelia Performing Arts collective, founded by five artists from Campania—Nyko Piscopo, Nicolas Grimaldi Capitello, Leopoldo Guadagno, Francesco Russo, and Eleonora Greco—has gained recognition within a year of its formation. Their works have won awards and been selected for festivals. KURUP, winner of Danza Urbana XL 2019, was chosen for Ravenna Festival. Sleeping Beauty – work bitch was included in the young dance section of Festival Ammutinamenti. The video dance Threesome, a stop-motion project using a Nikon 5000 and 400 shots, won the Premio Giuria Popolare at Premio Roma Danza. The collective co-produced Your Body is a Battleground with Biennale Danza for associate choreographer Adriano Bolognino, winner of Biennale College Danza. Their video performance Art is homeless, featuring Leopoldo Guadagno, uses Puccini's aria 'Vissi d'arte' sung by Maria Callas to express the despair of artists during the pandemic. The collective emphasizes slow, patient creative processes, contrasting with the hyperproduction they see in contemporary art.
