Cornelia Parker Named 2014 Hogarth Fellow at London's Foundling Museum
The Foundling Museum in London has appointed three new Fellows for its 10th anniversary year, coinciding with the 250th anniversary of William Hogarth's death. Artist Cornelia Parker becomes the 2014 Hogarth Fellow, joining existing Hogarth Fellows Richard Wentworth, Grayson Perry, and Yinka Shonibare MBE. Poet Lemn Sissay has been named the 2014 Coram Fellow, while musician and sound recordist Chris Watson receives the 2014 Handel Fellowship. Each Fellow will undertake a project with special relevance to children, inspired by the philanthropic and creative principles of the original Foundling Hospital's initiators: Thomas Coram, William Hogarth, and George Frideric Handel. Hogarth's donation of paintings to the Hospital laid the foundations for the Museum's collection. The Fellows are appointed every two years.
