Corinaldi Collection of Visual Poetry Auctioned at Cambi

The Corinaldi Collection, dedicated to Visual Poetry and Concrete Poetry, was auctioned by Cambi auction house in Milan in November 2022. The collection features works by Italian artists such as Lucia Marcucci, Luca Patella, Emilio Villa, Nanni Balestrini, Irma Blank, and Emilio Isgrò, as well as international artists like Serge Maccaferri and Dora Maurer, all created between 1956 and 1970. Many of these artists were part of Gruppo 70, a movement founded in 1963 after the 'Arte e Comunicazione' conference at Forte Belvedere in Florence, initiated by Eugenio Miccini and Lamberto Pignotti. The auction aimed to increase visibility for this culturally fertile period of Italian art, with most lots starting under €1,000, except for works by Blank and Isgrò. Over half of the lots sold, often exceeding their starting prices, marking a successful introduction of the movement to collectors.
