Coral Sands Inn on Harbour Island Reveals Maximalist Redesign by AJ Capital Partners
AJ Capital Partners has completed a maximalist renovation of the Coral Sands Inn & Cottages on Harbour Island, The Bahamas. The property, originally founded in the late 1960s by actor Brett King and his wife Sharon, now features 41 accommodations including sea-facing and garden cottages, a three-bedroom villa, and two beachside residences named Brett's and Sharon's. Head of design Krissy Melendez drew inspiration from vintage photos of the Kings and the work of photographer Slim Aarons, incorporating crushed coral sand, turquoise, and coastal motifs. Local artist Ersley Wilson contributed a mermaid mosaic for the pool and foraged-wood signs. New amenities include Barbie-pink basketball and pickleball courts, a padel court, an open-air fitness pavilion with Peloton bikes and plunge pool, and a spa slated for later in the year. Dining options include the Coral Sands Beach Bar and the Pink Mermaid restaurant serving coastal Italian cuisine. The interiors feature custom Schumacher fabrics, shell-adorned chandeliers, and hand-painted ceiling murals.
