CORAL: Adaptive Retrieval Loop for Culturally-Aligned Multilingual RAG
Check this out! There’s a new preprint on arXiv, numbered 2604.25676, which introduces a system called CORAL, or COntext-aware Retrieval with Agentic Loop. It's designed for multilingual retrieval-augmented generation, or mRAG for short. What’s cool about CORAL is that it addresses the problem of misalignment in retrieval for culturally specific queries. It does this by refining both the retrieval space and the query based on evidence quality. The process unfolds in four steps: choosing the corpora, retrieving documents, evaluating their relevance and cultural appropriateness, and checking if there's enough information. CORAL aims to deliver culturally relevant answers, even when the evidence comes from less suitable language or regional contexts.
