Copy Press: Independent Publishing as Political Act
Founded in 2013, Copy Press is a small, self-sustaining publisher that, by 2014, had already produced seven titles within its Common Intellectual series. The team of editors—Vit Hopley, Yve Lomax, Anne Tallentire, and Sharon Morris—are all practicing artists. Their manifesto emphasizes that publishing can serve as a form of political expression. Among their significant works are Jaki Irvine's Days of Surrender, which presents the 1916 Easter Rising through the eyes of Cumann na mBan's women, and Yve Lomax's PURE MEANS, which delves into writing and subjectivity through the lens of continental philosophy. Additionally, Copy Press established a Readers Union, drawing inspiration from the Left Book Club. They will participate in the New York Art Book Fair from 26–28 September 2014.
