Copenhagen Fashion Week at 20: Sustainability Rule Suspended, By Malene Birger Returns

Copenhagen Fashion Week celebrated its 20th anniversary, attracting global buyers and editors to the Danish capital. Established in 2020, the event's sustainability framework mandated that a minimum of 60% of each brand's collection consist of recycled or deadstock materials; however, this rule has been temporarily lifted for the spring/summer 2027 season while the criteria are being revised. The week highlighted the region's tightly-knit creative community, featuring cozy venues such as museum gardens and family backyards. Notable moments included Nicklas Skovgaard's theatrical presentation in Nordhavn's deserted car park, showcasing 1960s-inspired designs.
