Conversation Piece V: Giovani Artisti in Dialogo alla Fondazione Memmo
The Fondazione Memmo, housed in the 16th-century Palazzo Ruspoli in Rome, presents the fifth edition of the group exhibition "Conversation Piece." The show is dedicated to Italian and foreign artists temporarily residing in the capital, continuing the centuries-old tradition of the educational journey with a mandatory stop in Rome, sustained by numerous academies and cultural institutes. The exhibition's guiding thread is the motto "Non v'è più bellezza, se non nella lotta" (There is no more beauty except in struggle), taken from the Futurist Manifesto. This polar pairing of beauty-struggle (art-life) is reinterpreted and updated through a plurality of languages: from performative interventions to installations, video projections to abstract lost-wax sculptures, the latter a timid reference to the impermanence of life and art. Participating artists include Rebecca Digne (French Academy in Rome), the duo Invernomuto (American Academy in Rome), Julian Rosefeldt (German Academy in Rome), and Marinella Senatore (resident pro tempore).
