Converge 45 Biennial Explores Art as Global Citizenship in Portland

festival-fair · 2026-04-20

Converge 45, a biennial event in Portland curated by Christian Viveros-Fauné, is open until December 15 and features a variety of artistic interpretations of political issues. At the Lloyd Center ice rink, Amanda Ross-Ho's performance intertwines her personal history with cultural narratives, drawing on her experience in figure skating and referencing Tonya Harding. Significant solo shows include Jesse Murry's abstract works at Reed College's Cooley Gallery, overseen by Lisa Yuskavage and Jarret Earnest, as well as Rodrigo Valenzuela's monochrome photography at the Pacific Northwest College of Art. Lewis & Clark College presents Richard Mosse's film installation Broken Spectre (2018–22), which explores the devastation of the Amazon. Additional artists featured are Sam Hamilton, Marie Watt, and Malcolm Peacock, addressing personal stories in relation to larger political themes.
