Contrappunto Returns: Contemporary Artists Dialogue with Museum Collections in Udine

The second edition of Contrappunto, a project at Casa Cavazzini—the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Udine—brings together ten contemporary artists from Friuli Venezia Giulia with works from the civic collection. Inspired by musical counterpoint, each artist created a personal response to a specific historical piece. The pairing includes Michele Bazzana with Sergio Altieri, Loretta Cappanera with Carlo Ciussi, the duo Della Marina e Zucchi with Enrico Castellani, Aldo Ghirardello with Vittorio Cadel, Giulia Iacolutti with Lucio Fontana, Massimo Poldelmengo with Afro, Manuela Sedmach with Ellsworth Kelly, Michele Spanghero with Sol LeWitt, and Manuela Toselli with Bernhard Fiedler. Curated by Vania Gransinigh (museum curator) and Francesca Agostinelli, the exhibition occupies the second-floor temporary exhibition spaces. Gransinigh stated that cultural heritage is not just a set of objects but an evolving process that gains new meanings through renewed perspectives. The show runs until October 23.
