Contrappunti #1: Vettor Pisani and Marco Fusinato in Melbourne

Curated by Eugenio Viola, the exhibition 'Contrappunti #1, Vettor Pisani | Marco Fusinato' opened at the Istituto Italiano di Cultura in Melbourne, running until October 7, 2018. Organized in collaboration with the IIC Sydney, Fondazione Morra di Napoli, Anna Schwarz Gallery Melbourne, and the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts (PICA), the show presents a dialogue between the two Italian artists centered on appropriation and the influence of Joseph Beuys. Viola, Senior Curator at PICA, describes the project as a metaphorical journey where art overcomes contingencies and uncertainties. The exhibition includes Pisani's 'Untitled' (2011) and Fusinato's 'A Dozen Roses' (2006), which references Beuys's 'Rose für direkte Demokratie' from Documenta 5. This is the first time Pisani's work is shown in Australia, following his retrospective at MADRE in Naples.
