Contractual Skills Framework for Enterprise AI Agents

A new design framework for enterprise AI agents has been unveiled, featuring 'contractual skills' aimed at improving how goals, permissions, and verification are examined. This framework organizes SKILL.md files into straightforward task contracts while ensuring quick discovery and loading. It clarifies the differences between contractual skills, GovernSpec YAML contracts, Model Context Protocol interfaces, tool adapters, runtime guardrails, tracing, and evaluation methods. To evaluate the framework, two offline experiments were carried out, including a text-generation study that involved three enterprise skills, fifteen synthetic tasks, four instruction scenarios, and eight outputs.
