Consumer Reports Tests Six Mini LED TVs Under $3,000

Consumer Reports evaluated six Mini LED televisions priced under $3,000 to determine which models offer the best picture quality, HDR performance, and sound. The tested sets include the Samsung QN65QN90F, Sony K-65XR90, LG 65QNED90TUA, Samsung MRN75R85H, TCL 65QM8K, and Hisense 75UR9SG. The Samsung QN65QN90F, priced at $1,800, received high ratings for color accuracy, black levels, and HDR, though it lacks Dolby Vision and has a narrower viewing angle. The Sony K-65XR90, originally $2,300 and now discontinued, earned excellent picture quality ratings with a wide viewing angle and strong sound. The LG 65QNED90TUA, also discontinued at $1,100, was rated very good overall but fell short in color accuracy. The Samsung MRN75R85H, at $2,800, features a 75-inch screen and RGB Mini LED backlighting, earning top-notch color accuracy and excellent picture quality. The TCL 65QM8K, at $1,000, includes Dolby Vision and was rated excellent for picture quality and HDR. The Hisense 75UR9SG, at $3,000, scored lowest overall despite good color and HDR, with only three HDMI inputs. Consumer Reports highlighted that Mini LED technology is now common across price ranges, making picture quality less predictable by price alone.
