Consumer Reports Tests Six Innerspring Mattresses for Durability and Support

Consumer Reports tested six innerspring mattresses to identify the most supportive and durable options for back and side sleepers. The models evaluated include the Casper Snow Max, Casper Dream, GhostBed Massage Hybrid, Denver Mattress Doctor's Choice Plush, Bob-O-Pedic Treasure Dual, and Beauty Sleep Dream Weaver 12.5". The Casper Snow Max, priced at $3,756, received the highest overall rating, excelling in durability and back support, with very good side support and motion isolation, though its 13.2-inch thickness may require deep-pocket sheets. The Casper Dream, at $1,875, offered excellent durability and very good support and motion isolation, with no notable drawbacks, making it a strong value. The GhostBed Massage Hybrid, the most expensive at $4,595, had excellent back and side support but only satisfactory motion isolation and was heavier to move. The Denver Mattress Doctor's Choice Plush ($800) and Bob-O-Pedic Treasure Dual ($800) both provided excellent durability and back support, with the latter also offering very good side support and motion isolation. The Beauty Sleep Dream Weaver 12.5" was the most affordable at $600, with excellent durability, back support, and motion isolation, though its side support was only satisfactory. Consumer Reports assessed each mattress for durability, motion isolation, and support across different sleep positions, noting that coil count, layering, and firmness influence long-term performance.
