Construction begins on MVRDV's Valley mixed-use complex in Amsterdam's Zuidas district
Construction has commenced on Valley, a mixed-use development spanning 75,000 square meters, located in Amsterdam's Zuidas district, with an anticipated completion in summer 2021. This project, initiated by the Amsterdam municipality and OVG Real Estate, emerged victorious in a 2015 competition aimed at improving livability. As the economic center of the Netherlands, Zuidas has seen limited residential growth. Valley will include 196 apartments, seven floors of office space, a 375-space underground parking facility, and a variety of commercial and cultural amenities, along with a pedestrian pathway leading to terraces and rooftop gardens. The landscape design is credited to Piet Oudolf. In July 2017, MVRDV also secured a win for the Nieuw Bergen project in Eindhoven, focusing on sustainable housing. Additionally, MVRDV completed a botanical walkway in Seoul, which has drawn over two million visitors.
