Consani and Ozzola Dialogue on Light at ieedificio57 in San Gimignano
The fifth dialogue of the cultural platform ieedificio57, titled 'Niji hajimete arawaru: Appare il primo arcobaleno', opened in San Gimignano in 2026. Founded in 2024 by Michelangelo Consani (Livorno, 1971), the platform presents a two-person exhibition with Giovanni Ozzola (Firenze, 1982). The show unfolds as a three-station secular ascension from darkness to light. In the underground cisterna, Ozzola installs two bronze maritime bells with inscriptions that evoke a possible voice. On the ground floor, Ozzola's bronze snails crawl slowly along iron beams, contrasting with Consani's 'Sopra i figli dei figli il sole', a bronze cast of a wooden rocking deer given to him by an artist from Livorno in childhood, preserving the marks of time. On the first floor, Consani's 2021 sculpture 'Messaggi rivoluzionari' faces Ozzola's print 'Amarti mi affatica', where light breaks through three arches over the sea. In an adjacent room, a door opens onto the horizon offering the only escape of light, while Consani's 'Autoritratto – il giovane Barry Lindon' (2026) gazes blindly at a dimension between life and death. The exhibition is curated by Santa Nastro, vice director of Artribune.
