Conrad Shawcross Unveils 'Glance of the Sun' Sculpture at Cambridge's Vitrum Development

Conrad Shawcross has unveiled a captivating sculpture named 'Glance of the Sun (Time Pebble C40AS2)', which stands four meters tall and wide. Commissioned by Breakthrough Properties, it will be positioned at the entrance of the Vitrum building at St John's Innovation Park in Cambridge. This piece is crafted from thousands of unique components with intricate hole patterns, creating a glowing lattice that represents the universe's early expansion. Inspired by Shawcross's love for astronomy and his 2023 residency at the University of Nottingham, this artwork is part of Breakthrough Properties' initiative to enhance public art. The Vitrum building, spanning 166,000 square feet and designed by Henning Larsen, aims to enrich public spaces and engage the community.
