Connie Butler Appointed Director of MoMA PS1
Connie Butler, who has a wealth of experience as a curator at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, will now lead MoMA PS1 in Long Island City, New York. She previously served as the chief curator of drawings at MoMA from 2006 to 2013 and was instrumental in organizing prominent exhibitions at PS1, such as WACK! Art and the Feminist Revolution in 2008, Greater New York in 2010, Now Dig This! in 2012, and a solo show for Mike Kelley in 2013. Butler succeeds Kate Fowle, who focused on community engagement and social justice during her three-year tenure, and she plans to continue those efforts. At the Hammer, Butler curated significant exhibitions, including the Made in L.A. biennial in 2014, extending through 2023.
