CondoArt: A condominium as an artwork in Campobasso

architecture-design · 2026-04-27

In Campobasso, Italy, a 1970s building has been transformed into CondoArt, a condominium conceived as an artwork. The project was initiated by Vittorio Morelli, CEO of Mr Investments, who was inspired by a 2013 trip to London where he visited an art gallery and began collecting contemporary art. The same year, in Barcelona, he was struck by the aesthetic dialogue between Antoni Gaudí's Casa Milà and a neighboring contemporary building. Morelli decided to apply this concept to a property owned by his company on Corso Mazzini, formerly a Unicredit regional office, completed in 2020. The team included architect Jacopo Di Cristofaro, engineer Alessandro Rizzo, and artist Elio Cavone. Cavone designed a wave-like pattern of bricks on the facade, evoking human DNA and referencing real estate, and an interior artwork extending across the entrance floor and walls. Morelli emphasized that the collaboration allowed each professional to maintain independence without overlap. The project aims to make cities more beautiful by integrating art into residential buildings.
