Condo art fair expands to Brazil with São Paulo edition

Condo, the invitation-only art fair founded in 2016 in London by Vanessa Carlos, is expanding to Brazil with an edition in São Paulo in April 2018. The fair operates on a collaborative model where local galleries host international galleries at reduced costs, aiming to lower participation expenses and foster networking. After its initial success in London, Condo expanded to New York (organized by Simone Subal with Nicole Russo of Chapter NY), then to Düsseldorf and Cologne, and later returned to London. New editions are also set for Mexico City and Shanghai in July 2018. The São Paulo edition will be smaller than those in London or New York and is scheduled for April 2018, coinciding with SP-Arte, the contemporary art fair running from April 11–15, 2018. SP-Arte has been making efforts to grow internationally but still shows a strong local focus, with a predominance of South American galleries. Condo's more affordable format is seen as a way to attract more international visitors. The fair's model also allows artists without exclusive gallery representation to exhibit.
