Compton Verney Opens Major UK Sculpture Park with International Artists in Warwickshire

exhibition · 2026-04-19

A significant new sculpture park launched in March 2024 at Compton Verney in Warwickshire, UK, featuring eight international artists across 120 acres. The exhibition marks two decades since the gallery first opened to the public. Lithuanian artist Augustas Serapinas presents Standtune (2024), a work using local Warwickshire wood and ancient fencing techniques that references the deserted medieval settlement of Compton Murdak. Larry Achiampong, winner of the 2022 Aesthetica Prize, displays his afro-futuristic project Relic Traveller: Phase with four large flags featuring 54 stars representing African countries, exploring migration narratives and diasporic identity. Other artists include Helen Chadwick, Perminda Kaur, Louise Bourgeois, and Sarah Lucas, with sculptures integrated into the natural landscape of oak, ash, and lime trees, wildflower meadows, and rural bridges. In October 2024, Chila Kumari Singh Burman will present a multimedia exhibition drawing on her Punjabi and Liverpudlian heritage, featuring a large-scale neon intervention on the house façade. Geraldine Collinge, Chief Executive Officer, describes Compton Verney as an extraordinary creative experience for the curious. The park responds to the site's history dating back to the 16th century.
