Compagnia di San Paolo announces winners of ORA! contemporary arts grant
The Compagnia di San Paolo in Turin has selected 20 projects for the first edition of its ORA! contemporary arts grant, with a total budget increased from €550,000 to €740,000. The top prize of €45,000 was awarded to "Ulysses Now," a live movie inspired by James Joyce's Ulysses, created by the artistic duo ConiglioViola with supervision by Fabrizio Arcuri and technological support from TIM Strategy&Innovation. The project, produced by Associazione Culturale Accademia degli Artefatti of Rome, was praised by advisor Gianluigi Ricuperati for its cross-disciplinary approach and use of new technologies. The grant received 250 applications between October 2015 and February 2016, with 144 from Piedmont and 106 from the rest of Italy. Each selected project will receive an average of €37,000-€40,000, covering up to 80% of the project budget. The next edition will open to Europe. The Compagnia will continue to monitor the 230 non-selected projects, considering them "the best of Italy."
