Comme des Garçons Parfums Launches To Vetiver, Final Fragrance by Christian Astuguevieille

other · 2026-05-15

Comme des Garçons Parfums has launched To Vetiver, the final fragrance composed by the late creative director Christian Astuguevieille, who led the brand's perfume division for three decades. The scent was created by perfumer Antoine Maisondieu, who worked with Astuguevieille on 17 previous fragrances over 20 years. Maisondieu describes Astuguevieille's approach as demanding creative annihilation—unlearning classical compositions to approach materials as if for the first time. To Vetiver highlights vetiver's mineral, aquatic qualities, achieved by loading top notes with black pepper to evoke saltiness. The perfume is housed in the iconic pebble bottle designed by Rei Kawakubo for CDG's first fragrance, now in red. The campaign features images by Jamie Hawkesworth, shot during a sailing voyage from North Africa to Rio de Janeiro, with some bottles lost overboard. To Vetiver launched on May 6 in Venice at Fondazione Dries van Noten during the exhibition 'The Only True Protest is Beauty,' and rolled out globally on May 7 at Dover Street Market and CDG stores.
