Comicon Napoli 2023 announces Jim Lee, Brecht Vandenbroucke, and Italian stars

The countdown to Comicon Napoli, southern Italy's premier comics festival, has begun. Held at the Mostra d'Oltremare fairgrounds from April 28 to May 1, the event will feature international comics stars. A new Bergamo edition will take place June 23-25, as Bergamo and Brescia are joint Italian Capital of Culture 2023. First announced guests include Jim Lee, DC Comics publisher and creative director, who will be honored with the exhibition 'Jim Lee – The Italian Way' showcasing works from his 2003 Italian residency, which led to 'Batman: Europa'. Chicago-based Daniel Warren Johnson, multiple Eisner Award nominee, will present the ultimate edition of 'Murder Falcon' and 'Do a Powerbomb!' with Mike Spicer. Belgian illustrator Brecht Vandenbroucke, known for his work in the New York Times and Vice, will have a solo show 'Brecht Vandenbroucke. Shady stories' featuring his iconic character Shady. Italian guests include the collective Gigaciao (Sio, Dado, Fraffrog, Keison) making its debut; Simone Bianchi, former DC and Marvel artist, with the exhibition 'La musica dei corpi' inspired by music; Giorgio Cavazzano, named magister of this edition, with 'Galassia Cavazzano. I mondi elastici di Giorgio Cavazzano'; and Mirka Andolfo, who created this year's poster.
