Comas-Pont arquitectes complete landscape staircase restoring Ignatius of Loyola's historic path in Manresa

architecture-design · 2026-04-20

In 2025, the architectural firm Comas-Pont arquitectes completed the Landscape Staircase in Vall del Pardís, a 643-square-meter intervention that restores a lost section of the Camino de Ignacio de Loyola in Manresa. The project reconnects Pont Vell and Creu del Tort with Pou de Llum, reviving part of the historic path walked by Ignatius of Loyola in 1522 during his stay in the city where he wrote the Spiritual Exercises. This route was traditionally used by residents of the Les Escodines neighborhood, particularly women, to access the Cardener River. The project team includes lead architects Jordi Comas and Anna Pont, with structural engineering by Manel Fernàndez, project management by Francesc Belart, and general contracting by Taller Vidal Amill. Photography was handled by Adrià Goula, and the project was curated by Valentina Díaz. The installation falls under the category of installations and structures, representing a significant cultural heritage restoration that reestablishes both historical and community connections in the Manresa landscape.
