Colonel Sanders's Personal Archive and Properties Head to Auction
On July 28, the Menish Group will auction off the personal collection of KFC founder Colonel Harland Sanders, which includes his briefcase, Bible, bow ties, recipes, certificates, photographs, and a 1964 planner containing spice blends. Since 1974, the Settle family has preserved this collection, which features Blackwood Hall, Sanders' Victorian home from 1959, and the nearby Claudia Sanders Dinner House, which remains in operation. Sealed bids will be accepted for both properties. Auctioneer Jonathan Klunk anticipates interest from KFC franchise owners, museums, Americana collectors, and enthusiasts. Other significant items up for auction include Marilyn Monroe memorabilia on August 4, Disney props on August 16, and Pelé's 1958 World Cup shirt, which sold for $4.9 million on July 16.
