Collezione Olgiati’s ‘At the Studio’ Explores the Artist’s Space in Lugano

exhibition · 2026-04-27

The Collezione Olgiati in Lugano presents 'At the studio', a group exhibition examining the artist’s physical and mental workspace. The show opens with Ilya Kabakov’s monumental painting, an allegory of the contemporary artist’s condition, and includes works by Alberto Savinio, Giorgio de Chirico, Pietro Roccasalva, Fausto Melotti, Marisa Merz, Cy Twombly, Franco Vimercati, Emilio Isgrò, Tatiana Trouvé, Nairy Baghramian, Paola Pivi, Rachel Whiteread, and Arturo Martini. The exhibition runs in spring 2023, following the institution’s pattern of a monographic or thematic show in autumn and a broad group show in spring. The curatorial approach connects disparate artists through themes of tradition, iconoclasm, and the intimate dimension of creation. The show also features a 18th-century mosaic and works that dialogue with historical masters.
