Collezione Maramotti Rehang: A New Chapter for Italy's Premier Contemporary Art Collection

Starting March 3, 2019, the Collezione Maramotti in Reggio Emilia, a notable private collection in Italy, will undergo a significant rehang. Located in a former Max Mara factory, this collection, which opened in late 2007, showcases post-war to contemporary art, primarily from British and American artists. The new display will replace the existing permanent exhibition with works commissioned from 2008 to 2017, featuring solo shows by artists such as Enoc Perez, Gert & Uwe Tobias, and Jacob Kassay. The reorganization will focus on the last ten rooms of the second floor, which previously exhibited pieces from the 1990s and early 2000s. Concurrently, a temporary exhibition titled "Rehang: Archives" will run from March 3 to July 28, 2019, displaying various materials related to ten artists, including notable figures like Claudio Parmiggiani and Vito Acconci. Senior coordinator Sara Piccinini notes that this rehang illustrates the collection's dynamic nature, which includes over thirty commissioned projects and collaborations with the Max Mara Art Prize for Women.
