Collezione Maramotti Announces 2023 Exhibition Program with Painting and Photography

exhibition · 2026-04-27

The Collezione Maramotti in Reggio Emilia, housed in the former Max Mara factory and founded by entrepreneur and patron Achille Maramotti, has unveiled its 2023 exhibition season. Directed by Sara Piccinini, the program begins March 19 with 'Burning Green,' the first Italian solo show of Swiss artist Andriu Deplazes, based in Marseille. Deplazes presents new paintings and works on paper and plexiglass exploring family relationships, natural and anthropized environments, ecological and identity issues, personal experiences, and current events. From April 30 to July 30, the photography exhibition 'No Home from War: Tales of Survival and Loss' by photojournalist Ivor Prickett will be held in conjunction with the Festival di Fotografia Europea 2023. It features over fifty images taken between 2006 and 2022 in war contexts across Croatia, Ukraine, and Iraq, echoing classical religious and art historical iconography. The season concludes from October 29 to February 18, 2024, with a solo show by Italian artist Giulia Andreani, based in Paris, presenting ten new paintings in Payne's gray, inspired by photographic research in Reggio Emilia archives focusing on hidden or forgotten stories of women in historical, political, and cultural contexts. Currently on view are exhibitions by Emma Talbot for the Max Mara Art Prize for Women (in collaboration with Whitechapel Gallery) and 'Mirages' by American artist Jenna Gribbon.
