Collegio Venturoli Opens New Gallery with Collective Exhibition in Bologna
The Fondazione Collegio Artistico Venturoli in Bologna has inaugurated the group show "NEW SPACES | NEW ENTRIES" in its newly restored gallery at Via Centotrecento. The exhibition highlights works by Barbara Baroncini, Irene Fenara, Giacomo Gresleri, Simona Paladino, and Davide Trabucco—young artists and an architect who completed ten-year residencies as scholarship holders at the Collegio. The show also presents new acquisitions: Baroncini's photographic documentation of the interactive installation "Contare sulle persone," Fenara's "Supervision" exploring surveillance camera imagery, Paladino's "Senza titolo" graphic research on paper, Gresleri's study of the neglected Villa Ghisilieri, and Trabucco's "Confórmi" investigating compositional recursivity. A tribute to architect Angelo Venturoli features works by former architecture students Enrico Brunetti Rodati, Raffaele Faccioli, and Alfonso Modenesi. The gallery, formerly a plaster cast collection room, was redesigned by contemporary artist Nicola Melinelli, who also renovated the internal garden to blend noble plants with wild varieties. The Collegio, active since 1825 under Venturoli's will, has supported under-30 artists through scholarships and studios since 1930, housing an archive of Venturoli's drawings, correspondence, and marble collection, plus around 300 artworks donated by former fellows.
