Collector Vittorio Gaddi on Post-Covid Art World: Less Glitz, More Substance
In a recent chat with Artribune, art collector Vittorio Gaddi reflected on the art scene a year after the pandemic hit. From 2020 to 2021, he added works by artists like Nora Turato and Kader Attia to his collection, mainly through galleries such as Gregor Staiger and Galleria Continua. Interestingly, many of these purchases were made online, without seeing the pieces in person. Gaddi misses the buzz of art fairs and the chance to visit museums and meet artists, though he admits that virtual studio tours have helped. He hopes the art world can blend useful digital advancements with a return to live events while cutting back on unnecessary fairs and socializing at openings.
