Collector Enea Righi Appointed Managing Director of Arte Fiera Bologna
For the first time, a collector will play an active leadership role in an Italian art fair. Bologna native Enea Righi, born in 1956, has been named Managing Director of Arte Fiera Bologna, working alongside artistic director Simone Menegoi, who was confirmed for the 2023 edition. Righi, a former executive in the healthcare sector, has collected since the 1990s with a focus on artists' books and editions. He collaborates with Museion in Bolzano, co-produced projects at the Venice Biennale and documenta, and has exhibited his collection at Collection Lambert in Avignon, Castello di Rivoli, Grand Palais in Paris, and Palazzo Fortuny in Venice. The fair returns to its traditional February slot, opening from Piazza Costituzione in halls 25 and 26. Righi accepted the role after persuasion by mutual friends and a sense of romantic gratitude toward Italy's oldest art fair. He aims to bring a collector's sensibility to hospitality and services, emphasizing inclusivity and environmental awareness. The 2023 edition will launch a section dedicated to limited editions and artists' books, aligning with Righi's personal passion. Menegoi expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, noting Righi's immediate contribution. Righi views the role as a way to give back to the art world that helped him grow as a collector.
