Collective Living in Munich's Freiham District by 03 Arch. and Partners

architecture-design · 2026-05-25

The Ute-Strittmatter-Strasse project in Munich's Freiham district, completed in 2023, exemplifies collective living on a 11,604 m² site. Designed by a consortium of 03 Arch., ENEFF Architekten, Illiz Architektur, and Westner Schührer Zöhrer, with landscape architecture by Uniola, the residential architecture is part of Europe's largest new development area. Freiham, Munich's newest urban expansion, will eventually house around 25,000 people on 350 hectares. The city retains land ownership, granting plots under hereditary building rights to municipal developers, cooperatives, and building associations. Curated by Hadir Al Koshta, the project features photographs by Pk.Odessa, Sebastian Schels, Markus Lanz, and Lennard Zimmermann.
