Collectif MIX's Parodic Subversion at Bordeaux Exhibition

exhibition · 2026-04-23

The exhibition "Collectif MIX : À suivre" took place in Bordeaux from March 25 to April 14, 2006. The collective, composed of Claire Malrieux, Alex Pou, and Fabien Vallos, presented a controlled yet unpredictable method that uses parody to challenge rationalization and modern instruments. The show includes a film titled "Comédie 8 (remarques sur l'acier)" featuring actor Sharif Andoura reciting Racine's "Le songe d'Athalie" on a loop, projected on a vertical screen. A phrase reading "Nous ne sommes pas propriétaires" is embedded in a corner. Upstairs, four sculptures reminiscent of ancient figures of domination and devotion share fragments of authority. The collective's approach avoids easy solutions like reviving outdated traditions or hastily diagnosing the situation. Instead, they employ laughter and a toppling movement to destabilize models, theories, and certainties. The text was written by Didier Arnaudet.
