Collecteurs: A Digital Platform for Sharing Private Art Collections

Collecteurs is a new online platform that allows private art collectors to create profiles and digitally exhibit their collections, making them accessible to the public. Founded by collectors Jessica and Evrim Oralkan, the platform was developed with support from New Inc, a cultural incubator promoted by the New Museum in New York. The founders emphasize that the platform is self-funded and structured as an independent public benefit corporation, aiming to counter corporate greed in the art world. Collecteurs functions as a hybrid of archive and social network, enabling networking and information exchange among collectors, curators, and scholars. Users can choose a free basic membership or paid subscriptions at $15 or $125 per month, which include perks like VIP passes to art fairs. The platform features the Oralkans' own collection, which includes works by Marina Abramović, John Baldessari, Jonathan Meese, Torbjørn Rødland, Michael Dean, Rosemarie Trockel, Wolfgang Tillmans, Ed Atkins, and Korakrit Arunanondchai. Notable collaborators include artist Nástio Mosquito as an ambassador, and the board of directors comprises Johann König of König Galerie, Damian Bradfield of WeTransfer, and Eugenio Re Rebaudengo of Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo and Artuner.
