Code Art Fair 2017 Opens in Copenhagen with Expanded Performance Program

Code Art Fair, the contemporary art fair in Copenhagen, opens on August 31, 2017, at the Bella Center with over sixty galleries and a rich program of events. This year, the fair introduces a curatorial team for the first time, composed of Caroline Bøge (former director of Nils Stærk gallery) and Saskia Draxler (director of Nagel Draxler). Irene Campolmi curates the ArtReActs program, which includes Code Film, Code Talks, and Code Performance, integrating performance art into the fair context. Performances include Peter Voss-Knude's 'Peter & The Danish Defence,' developed from his three-year collaboration with the Danish Army; works by Hassan Khan and Jacob Kirkegaard in partnership with Copenhagen Contemporary and Copenhagen Art Week; and a participatory parade by Italian artist Marinella Senatore, known for her processions celebrating love and diversity, which serves as a statement against Denmark's restrictive immigration laws. Campolmi aims to give the fair a distinct identity through a young, straightforward approach, with attention to emerging galleries such as Pilar Corrias, Arcade, and Dittrich & Schlechtriem. The fair runs from August 31 to September 3, 2017.
