Cobre Estudio's TABLE LAMP Z: Folded Steel Sculpts a Z-Shaped Lighting Object

Cobre Estudio, an Argentine design firm, has introduced TABLE LAMP Z, a sculptural piece crafted from a single 2 mm steel sheet. Designed by Malena Vivanco and Miranda Gurny, the lamp employs laser cutting and folding techniques to establish its form and aesthetic. Its asymmetrical design intentionally evokes a sense of imbalance, while precise folds ensure stability. The lamp’s central body is a continuously folded section that houses the light source, creating a warm glow that interacts with the metal, highlighting the contrast between light and material. Suitable for both desk and bedside use, it features a customizable fabric cord in various colors. This project emphasizes how a straightforward manufacturing method can yield a unique lighting object, with folds serving as the main design language. Cobre Estudio's minimalist approach involves a single component, limited production processes, and a material that shapes the final design.
